ADI BioAnalytics is a collaborative platform, helmed by Dr. Cara Ellis, that provides bioinformatics support to researchers across academic and clinical disciplines.

We provide bespoke professional bioinformatics and statistical consulting services to support research projects, data analysis, and study design. Our expertise includes, but is not limited to:
●      Experimental design and statistical analysis
●      Single-cell and bulk RNA-seq analysis
●      Gene regulatory network inference
●      Multiomics data integration
●      Custom data visualization and reporting

Our consulting services include:
●      Advising on study design and data collection strategies
●      Performing computational analyses using bioinformatics and statistical tools
●      Interpreting results and generating figures and tables for publications
●      Assisting with troubleshooting and optimizing workflows
●      Providing guidance on best practices for data processing and interpretation

Our services are fee-based and can be structured as:
●      Hourly consulting: for short-term or ad-hoc support
●      Project-based consulting: for defined tasks with agreed-upon deliverables
●      Ongoing collaboration: for extended projects requiring periodic support

Before beginning work, we will outline the scope of services and enter into a formal agreement detailing deliverables, timelines, and payment terms. Our full pricing guide can be found here.

If you are interested in discussing potential consulting services, please fill out the contact form below with details about your project needs. We can schedule an initial, no-cost discussion to assess your requirements and determine the best approach. If we proceed, a written agreement will be established before work begins.

Dr. Cara Ellis
SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST

Cara first became interested in islet biology during her undergraduate studies in biomedical materials engineering, where she conducted diabetes research that sparked a long-standing fascination with the molecular mechanisms of pancreatic function. She earned her PhD in Experimental Surgery from the University of Alberta in 2015, focusing on beta cell biology and regenerative strategies for diabetes treatment.

Following her doctoral training, Cara moved to the University of British Columbia to deepen her expertise in stem cell biology and develop advanced skills in computational biology and bioinformatics. During this time, she contributed to interdisciplinary projects involving single-cell transcriptomics, biostatistics, and Bayesian mixed effects modeling, applying rigorous statistical frameworks to explore cellular heterogeneity and lineage dynamics.

Cara returned to Edmonton in 2021 and has been the lead of ADI BioAnalytics since 2025. Her work focuses on single-cell and bulk transcriptomics, gene regulatory network inference, and multi-modal integration in metabolic and developmental systems.  She has a particular interest in using systems biology approaches to understand beta cell dysfunction in diabetes and guide stem cell differentiation strategies.

Outside the lab, Cara enjoys trail running, baking, sailing, backpacking, and playing Dungeons & Dragons with her family and friends.
