At present, we are keen to hear from individuals interested in pursuing postdoctoral studies in human islet biology in concert with our IsletCore program. Our group is interested in several areas of islet cell signalling, insulin and glucagon secretion, islet cell death/survival.

Individuals with a recent PhD and a strong research background will be supported in applications to local, national and international fellowship programs. Interested individuals should contact Dr. Patrick MacDonald (pmacdonald@ualberta.ca)

We are always happy to hear from talented and committed scientists interested in joining our group.

Our lab offers an excellent research environment and is well-supported by national and international granting agencies. Lab members have access to a tremendous array of resources, both within our lab (where we have a number of dedicated cellular imaging and electrophysiology set-ups) and through the Alberta Diabetes Institute (ADI) which offers extensive core facilities and support in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunohisochemistry, islet transplantation, FACS and much more...

Individuals will be encouraged to develop a high degree of independence and their research goals will be supported by access to technical personnel and senior researchers in our group and the ADI.

Candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and strong candidates will be supported in applications to national and international fellowship programs (i.e. AHFMR, CIHR, CDA, JDRF, NSERC...).
