Three new papers from our group have recently come online. They all examine novel pathways regulating insulin in islets from human donors with type 2 diabetes.
Jelena published a paper in Molecular Metabolism showing that the class II PI3 kinase C2beta regulates insulin secretion by controlling phosphodiesterase 3.
In a paper in Diabetes, Richard shows that glycine is taken up by beta-cells and is released to act in an autocrine fashion to promote excitability and insulin secretion.
Cathy's paper in JCI Insight explores the mechanism by which the inflammatory cytokine IL1beta increases insulin secretion using human islets and in vivo models of acute metabolic and inflammatory stress.
